Understanding the Signs of Autism
Autism is a very complex issue. Discovering that your child may have autism may be quite a challenge. Other children may become obsessed with certain types of sensory stimulation. For example, a child may focus nonstop on a particular sound, or may be focused on a particular light for long periods of time. If your child is exhibiting this type of behavior, you should bring it up to their pediatrician immediately.
Many children with autism experience rituals that they perform on a consistent basis. If the ritual is not performed, the child may become stressed out in a severe way. For example, the child may wish to eat a certain food each day, or may wish to wear their clothing a certain way. If this is not achieved, then it may result in the child throwing a temper tantrum, or showing signs of extreme distress.
